Posturology is a method for the study of posture. It concerns the maintenance of an upright posture, both static and dynamic stabilisation of posture and development of a spatial awareness of the body in relation to the environment.

The tonic postural system involves a large number of receptors.Dysfunction in this system can result in pain in the spinal column, hips, knees and feet and can also cause instability.

Following in-depth postural analysis it is sometimes possible to offer adjustments to the sole of the foot (specifically personalised insoles) by a podologist with training in posturology.
